Julia Wright (1969-2026)
Julia trained at the Gestalt centre and joined the faculty from the Mary Ward centre in 2013 to teach on the psychotherapy training and short course programmes.
Julia was a compassionate and vibrant person, and an esteemed colleague, supervisor and trainer, and those of us who knew her and worked with her at GC are mourning her loss. She was creative, funny, smart and committed to community and her allotment. She brought her Gestalt practice into the everyday.
We would like to thank her colleagues and friends who managed her practice closure with sensitivity and grace. We know students in therapy and supervision with Julia appreciated this.

Peggy Sherno (1941-2025)
It is with sadness that we acknowledge the death of Peggy Sherno earlier this year.
Peggy was an esteemed colleague and trainer at the Gestalt centre.
Ursula Faussett formed The Gestalt Centre in 1980 and together with Peggy Sherno and Judith Leary-Tanner created the first UK training programme for gestalt psychotherapists. Many of you will remember the various locations of the centre, including the rooms at the East/West centre, and Old Street and Shoreditch which became a favourite location and place to meet.
Peggy taught on the psychotherapy training for many years with a holding presence and firm grip on Gestalt practice for all those who were in her training groups. Many will remember both Brighton and Bournemouth residentials and Peggy’s commitment to staying with the group process and her boundless energy.
In tribute to Peggy Sherno, the Gestalt centre would like to acknowledge her contribution to gestalt practice in the UK and in developing the Gestalt centre from humble beginnings, the ‘teapot’ to the established centre today. Peggy retired from the faculty in 2000 and continued in private practice, retiring in 2021 after 40 years as a Gestalt psychotherapist.
Peggy will be much missed for her wisdom, sense of humour and fair but firm nature.

Robert Kincaid (1961-2025)
In loving memory of Robert Kincaid.

A kind compassionate soul, with a sharp mind open to possibilities, academic acumen and a brilliant understanding of what it takes to run a values-led not-for-profit organisation, within the wider socio-economic ecosystem of our times. He brought all of this, to our work - each day, making a difference.
Robert was passionate about our work at the Gestalt Centre and our commitment to supporting people from a range of backgrounds and experiences to become qualified therapists and offer help and hope to others that need it.
We achieved much together, the two years Robert was a member of the GC management team. We remember him, as we move forward and continue to grow and evolve as an organisation - with awareness, creativity and care.
