Richard Lewis Gestalt psychotherapist and group facilitator. From personal experience I have come to believe that depression and anxiety are often sane responses to insane situations. My approach to therapy starts with this idea and assumes that most people have made the best decisions they could at the time. Perhaps some of these ideas have become fixed and need identifying and updating. With therapist and client working alongside each other to explore the current situation, increased awareness may gradually emerge, and new choices become possible.
