The counsellors in this directory are professionally qualified with a Diploma in Counselling and have undertaken all or part of their training at the Gestalt Centre London. All are members of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or the Association of Humanistic Psychology Practitioners (AHPP). BACP members are bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedures therein. AHPP members work in accordance with AHPP’s Codes of Ethics and Practice and are subject to their Complaints Procedures. All members are committed to client confidentiality and continuing professional and personal development.
The counsellors are covered by professional indemnity insurance and work under regular supervision. Members offer a broad range of services to address a variety of client difficulties and concerns. Many practitioners bring additional skills and training to the therapeutic relationship and have developed expertise in particular ways of working.
Julie Andrews MA. Registered MBACP (Accred) Qualified in 1993, Julie believes that everyone can benefit from a session of counselling. Julie trained at the Gestalt Centre (Post-Graduate Certificate Gestalt Psychotherapy Theory) onto a Masters in Counselling at Goldsmiths University and Clinical Supervision – Certificate at Regent’s University London. Samantha Arditti is a Registered MBACP Counsellor. Prior to training at the Gestalt Centre Samantha worked for over 25 years as a campaigner for environmental, animal welfare and human rights organisations in the UK and also internationally. She has experience of working with a wide range of issues including: anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, relationships, bereavement, pet bereavement, body image, ADHD, trauma, menopause and fertility issues. Samantha offers concessionary rates for students and people on low income. Her therapy room is less than 5 mins walk from Fulham Broadway tube station.
Susan Atkins Registered MBACP (Accred), offers long- and short-term individual work with adults and children around a variety of issues. As well as talking, she also draws on creative methods such as the use of sand and art materials to enable greater awareness of difficulties and challenges faced by both adults and children. She holds Diplomas in Gestalt Counselling and Play Therapy. She is an accredited member of BACP and accredited by PTUK.
Vivienne Barnett BSc(Hons), Reg.MBACP(Accred) is a Gestalt therapist, supervisor and coach – in practice since 1994 – with considerable experience in psychiatric and educational settings. Her personal style is warm and supportive – whilst challenging unhelpful assumptions and unhealthy ways of being in the world. She is a Gestalt Centre qualified supervisor and has an interest in working with trainees who are beginning clinical work. Vivienne is also a Gestalt coach. With a background in business, her emphasis is on working with those in positions of responsibility, which can feel isolating.
Anna Beckmann MBACP has a diploma in holistic counselling and a diploma in Gestalt counselling and is in the final year of her psychotherapy training. Anna has been counselling for 8 years, working with a variety of issues from shame, personality disorders, depression, burnout, addictions, self-esteem, grief, anxiety, PTSD and developmental trauma. She provides a nurturing, focused and non-judgemental space in which to explore inner patterns and behaviours while cultivating meaning and encouraging self-expression and awareness.
Jon Blend MA is a psychotherapist and supervisor who works with adults and children. He tutors at Minster Centre and offers arts- based training at Gestalt Institutes nationally and abroad. Jon is a regular contributor to psychotherapy conferences and has authored several publications. He has extensive experience of working with adults and children in various mental health settings, also in the field of therapeutic arts. Jon believes effective therapy involves respectful, relational conversation between trusted equals. His interests include assertiveness, bereavement, identity, ‘stuckness’, also transgenerational and intercultural concerns.
Catherine Carr is a registered MBACP counsellor trained at The Gestalt Centre. She has also provided NLP Coaching privately and in business for ten years. Catherine offers a gentle and supportive approach and has counselling experience in anxiety, low self-esteem, work issues, depression, bereavement and loss. She is available for short and long-term counselling.

Peter Cartwright, Registered MBACP (Accred), trained at the Gestalt Centre and works in south-east London, a minute’s walk from Forest Hill station. He has worked as a counsellor since 2000 in various settings including the NHS, prisons and in private practice since 2006. Peter believes he helps people by enabling them to develop the self-awareness and inner resources they need to create a life more of their choosing. Peter also works as a group facilitator and trainer in the counselling, drugs and social-care fields. Previously he worked in prison education and project management.
Juliette Clancy is a Counsellor, Psychosexual & Relationship Therapist accredited by both the BACP & COSRT. She offers individual and couple counselling both long and short term. She works with a wide variety of issues that include: anger, shame, self-esteem, grief & loss, relationships, sexuality and abuse to name a few. She is empathetic, committed and passionate about her work understanding the importance and value in the client/therapist relationship to facilitate change. Howard Davis, Registered MBACP (Accred). Working relationally with gestalt and mindfulness practice to bring about an increased resonance with present moment experience, Howard seeks to offer an enhanced sense of belonging and a greater self-aware choosing of our actions and attitude. He is qualified as a mindfulness-based gestalt counsellor (Goldsmiths, Gestalt Centre) and additionally has a diploma in relational mindfulness (Karuna Institute) and experience of Gestalt Awareness Practice having worked with Christine Price. As well as one-to-one counselling, he also offers outdoor walking therapy and online counselling.
Olufunmilayo (‘funmi) Ekani registered MBACP: a black, female Gestalt counsellor who obtained her diploma from the Gestalt Centre in 2001. Her areas of interest include: domestic abuse, rape and sexual assault, self- worth, spirituality, effects of racism, identity & belonging, depression, anxiety, separation/divorce and loss, feelings of dissatisfaction with life. ‘funmi has 20 years’ voluntary sector experience working with victims of crime and women affected by domestic abuse. Vicky Eugenio, MA, UKCP Reg Gestalt Psychotherapist, MBACP (Accred) Counsellor. She studied and worked as a GP in Argentina before starting her counselling/psychotherapy training in the UK. Vicky has over 20 years’ experience working as a counsellor, psychotherapist and supervisor for individuals, couples and organisations. She runs a private practice in Crawley and at the Gestalt Centre in London where she is also a Skills Tutor and Supervisor for the Diploma in Counselling Course. She offers Creative Supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists. She is bilingual: English/Spanish.
Kevin Foster is a Registered BACP (Accred.) counsellor, who abides by their code of practice. He has wide experience working with individuals seeking support in areas, such as: stress, anxiety, work/life balance, relationships, depression, identity, and self-development. Sharon obtained her BACP-accredited Diploma in Counselling from the Gestalt Centre after successfully completing a Certificate in Person-Centred Counselling. Sharon provides a safe and confidential space for clients to look at what is troubling them. Nina Grant is a UKCP registered Child Psychotherapist and graduate of the Gestalt Centre Counselling Diploma. She works with adults, young people and children, exploring issues which might be getting in the way of living and learning. She provides a safe and supportive space for thoughts and feelings to unfold and be explored. She has worked successfully with issues of anxiety, bereavement and loss, relationship difficulties, stress and low self-esteem, learning difficulties. Helen Hayes is a Registered MBACP (Snr Accred) and UKCP Registered Psychotherapist. She has a Diploma in Counselling from the Gestalt Centre (1996), an MA in Existential Psychotherapy (2006), and a Diploma in Integrative Supervision (2009). She has worked in the voluntary sector, NHS primary care, and student counselling services. Anna Janmaat Registered MBACP (Accred). She offers long and short-term counselling to individuals needing support with depression and identity crisis, post-natal issues, stress, loss, bereavement and coping with divorce/separation and family issues. Anna worked for many years in a large public sector organisation before completing her Gestalt Counselling Diploma. She has ten years’ experience in settings including a college, school and the NHS where she supported people with the emotional impact of illnesses such as MND and MS. She now works in private practice in Greenwich, offering day/evening sessions and a sliding scale of fees.
Lorraine King, Registered Member (BACP), trained at The Gestalt Centre. Also a life and career coach, having trained at the Institute of Leadership and Management. She works alongside people to explore issues that are important to them, gently challenging them to reflect on their learned patterns of relating, with compassion and creativity. She supports clients to increase their awareness and choices. Lorraine is experienced in working with individuals and groups on a range of life issues, including transitions, grief, depression, self-compassion, stress, anxiety and confidence.
Sachiko Kishi is an experienced registered MBACP Gestalt counsellor and UKCP psychotherapist. Her background is in the arts, community mental health and higher education. She works creatively and collaboratively with clients in both 1-1 and group settings on a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, transition issues, difficulties in relationships, third culture, identity and difference. Matt Martys, MA, registered MBACP (Accred), BAAT, HCPC. Qualifications include Gestalt Therapy, Art Psychotherapy, Mediation and Clinical Supervision. Matt offers private individual, couple and group therapy, supervision and an accredited mediation service. Over 20 years of counselling experience includes in the NHS, charitable sector, education and private practice. Piotr Mierkowski, MA Dip Psych is a psychotherapist and counsellor, practising since 1991. Areas of clinical expertise include relationships, life transitions, creativity, sexuality, love and loss. Piotr has considerable training in body therapy and works effectively with individuals experiencing various degrees of body-mind disconnection and psychosomatic symptoms. With a background in education, Anne brings her experience and interest in pattern exploration to her work with individuals and offers a safe space for growth through experimentation, creativity and dialogue. Anne works at the Centre for Better Health in Hackney, and has private practice at the Gestalt Centre and in North London.
Carole Simpkins is a Registered MBACP (Accred) Counsellor, having obtained a Diploma in Counselling from the Gestalt Centre. Carole works with a wide range of issues, including bereavement, workplace bullying, domestic violence, stress, anxiety, depression and relationship difficulties. She also has experience of volunteering as a Samaritan. Carole offers both short-term and long-term counselling to individuals and couples at the Gestalt Centre (NW1), in Liverpool Street (EC2M), in Shoreditch (E1) and in Muswell Hill (N10); and welcomes enquiries. Cate Sweeney is a Registered MBACP counsellor and practices at the Gestalt Centre, also in Shoreditch, as well as her home in Northamptonshire. She offers a warm acceptance, alonside a straight forward approach. She has worked with diverse issues from abuse to anxiety, relationship problems, loss and bereavement, depression and self-worth. Roxana Wood Reg. MBACP (Accred.) practises both at the Gestalt Centre, where she trained, and EC1, nearby Old Street tube station. Previously Roxana worked in education and visual arts. She has experience in long and short-term counselling working with various issues, including depression, anger, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationships, work/health issues, bereavement (incl. pets), trauma, loss. She is also interested in the psychology of immigration: the emotional strain caused by emigrating which may leave us feeling bereft, unsafe and isolated; and the use of creative means to encourage personal exploration.
Ringaile Turonyte – Registered MBACP, BPS member is a counsellor and psychologist. A Gestalt Centre graduate. she also volunteers part-time for CRUSE; a support centre for those experiencing significant loss and working through the grieving process. While working with all ages and genders, Ringaile focuses on helping young adults and teenagers experiencing mental health issues such as depression, anxiety , self-esteem, abuse within the family and sexuality identification. Her work creates an appreciation for self-awareness along with a practical therapy. Ringaile is always available for an initial introductory session with a flexible schedule.
